LAHORE, Pakistan -Tameen Khan, Pakistan's fastest female sprinter, has expressed a desire to represent her country internationally, including at the Olympics.
Tameen recently won the 100-meter dash in 11.86 seconds during the ongoing National Athletics Championship. The athlete was competing in a national sporting event for the Pakistan Army.
"I worked very hard for this over the last few years." "I defeated competitors who had been competing for the past ten years during the race," the athlete told the press on Sunday.
"I've also been chosen for international events." "My goal is to represent my country at the Olympics, Asian Games, Asian Athletics, and South Asian Games," the Peshawar-born athlete added.
Tameen hoped that she would be sent abroad to hone her skills because of the lack of proper training facilities in Pakistan.
"I'm hoping that after this performance, I'll be sent abroad for additional training." "Athletes require more exposure and better facilities," she stated.
