SINGAPORE, June 30 (Xinhua) -- As dusk falls over the rainforests of Mandai Lake, Singapore Night Safari awakens to life. Since its groundbreaking debut in 1994, this pioneering wildlife conservation park has won the "Best Attraction Experience" award many times, drawing over a million visitors annually.
Across its lush 35-hectare expanse, nearly 900 animals from more than 100 species thrive, 41 percent of which are endangered, including Asian elephants, Malayan tapirs, and Malayan tigers.
The park employs a unique lighting system that mimics natural moonlight, carefully designed to enhance visitor experience while minimizing disturbance to nocturnal creatures.
Guests can explore in three distinctive ways: a 40-minute tram ride traverses six global habitats, from Himalayan foothills to Southeast Asian rainforests; four themed walking trails offer intimate encounters with wildlife after dark; and expert-led tours provide deeper insights into conservation efforts.
Interactive shows spotlight the natural behaviors of Asian small-clawed otters and fennec foxes, weaving in vital conservation messages.
As a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the park participates in dozens of international breeding programs, achieving milestones for endangered species like Malayan tigers and Asian elephants. Its fishing cat initiative is hailed as "one of Asia's most successful conservation stories."
More than redefining zoo experiences, this nocturnal kingdom transforms into a vibrant classroom under the stars. It invites visitors to rediscover nature's mysteries and reflect on humanity's bond with wildlife, securing its place as a crown jewel of Singapore's attractions.
