HANGZHOU, June 9 (Xinhua) -- China's men's national football team played out a 0-0 draw with Thailand in an international friendly on Tuesday in Jinhua, east China's Zhejiang Province.
Watched by more than 32,000 spectators, the match marked head coach Shao Jiayi's first home game in charge. China made an energetic start and created an early scoring opportunity when Zhang Yuning struck the crossbar from Lin Liangming's cross in the third minute.
In the 88th minute, Chinese striker Wu Lei had a chance to snatch a winner with a long-range lob, but the ball drifted just wide of the goal.
China finished with 66 percent possession, 24 shots, six on target and 11 corners, but failed to convert its chances. Thailand managed just three shots, none on target, and earned only one corner throughout the match.
The game also marked a milestone for Wu, who earned his 101st cap for China. A pre-match ceremony was held to honor his 100th appearance for the national team.
The draw leaves Shao with a record of two wins, one draw and one defeat from his first four matches in charge.
